Harry G. Walden Dies At Residence
Harry G. Walden, well-known Franklin resident, died Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock in the house where he was born at 525 Center street. Although he had been in failing health for six months, his death was unexpected.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home at 10 o’clock Thursday morning with Dr. Sumner L. Martin, of the Indiana Methodist Home for the Aged, in charge of the services. Burial will be made in Highland Lawn cemetery at Terre Haute.
Friends may call at the funeral home at any time after 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon and are invited to attend the rites.
The son of the late Ezra F. and Viola Smith Walden, Mr. Walden was born in Franklin on Nov. 28, 1888, and had spend [sic] his entire life in this city. He had always resided in the house where he was born.
Attended College
He was educated in the Franklin schools, graduating from high school in 1906, and then attended Franklin College. Mr. Walden was a sheet metal worker. A veteran of World War I, he served with the 37th Division of M.D., 134th Field Artillery.
Mr. Walden was a member of the Tabernacle Christian church of which he served as deacon and church secretary, Franklin Masonic lodge, of which he was worshipful master in 1925 and Veterans of World War I Barracks No. 351. On July 9, 1944, he married Carrie Bohannon in Franklin. She survives with three step children, Mrs. Wayne Fry, Mrs. Claude Reynolds, of Terre Haute; and Miss Barbara Jean Bohannon, of Franklin. Others remaining are nine step-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence Walden, of Connersville.
