Death of Harry Voris.

Harry Voris, aged 67 years, died last Saturday at his home in the Hopewell neighborhood, after a long and painful illness from cancer. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at his late home under the auspices of the Masonic order. Burial at Hopewell cemetery.

Deceased was born in Mercer county, Ky., September 28, 1829, and when a child came to Johnson County with his parents. His whole life, therefore, except a few months in infancy, had been spent in this county. He was one of the few pioneers now living who could look back over a period of over 65 years of continuous residence in Johnson County.

At the age of twenty one years he settled on the farm on which he died, consisting of 190 acres. In 1857 he was married to Mary J. Voris, who died March 13, 1886. They were the parents of three children, viz: William, Jesse and Edward, the last named having been killed by a vicious mule.

Mr. Voris was a man greatly esteemed in the community. He was honest in all business transactions and of a quiet unassuming disposition which won lasting friends wherever he became known.
