The death of John W. Vest, one of the oldest citizens of Greenwood, was quite a surprise to many of our citizens, when the report was circulated about our city Sunday. He had only been ill a short time, many not being aware of his illness.
Mr. Vest had been a resident of Greenwood for many years, having always followed the business of a watch and clock repairer. He died Saturday night and was 72 years old. He leaves a widow and three children.
The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. C. M. Clarke, of Indianapolis. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.
