Death of Herman Trefflich.

Death of Herman Trefflich, after an illness of three or four months from consumption, died Thursday evening of last week at seven o’clock.

He was born in Germany, Nov. 7, 1835, and came with his parents to America in 1850, first landing at New Orleans, thence coming up the Mississippi. The destination of the party was Franklin.

His mother, while coming up the Mississippi, died from cholera, and the body was buried on one of the banks.

After residing here six years, Mr. Trefflich went to California, remaining there until 1870, when he returned to Franklin. On Sept. 30th of that year he was married to Miss Anna Miller, daughter of [smeared ink] Miller, one of the party who came with his parents to seek new homes and who was long a resident of Franklin. Mr. Trefflich afterwards moved to Arkansas City, Kansas, where he conducted a store, but in 1886 returned to Franklin, where he continued to reside. For eight years he was sexton of the Presbyterian church of this city, a position he held until a short time ago, when failing health compelled him to give it up.

He leaves a wife and five daughters, one of whom, Lizzie, is employed as a compositor in this office.

Deceased was of a quiet, unassuming nature, frugal and industrious in habits and was respected by all.

Funeral services were held at the house Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall, pastor of the Presbyterian church, of which the deceased had long been a member. Burial at Greenlawn.
