DEATH OF S. W. TILSON.

S. W. Tilson, one of the best known farmers of Johnson County, died Sat­urday night at 12 o’clock from an abscess which had formed on one of the his lungs. Deceased was born and raised on a farm in the Hurricane neighborhood, and with the exception of three years spent in Kansas and Illinois, his entire life had been spent in that neighborhood. About forty years ago he was married to Miss Ballard, who with seven children survives him. Mr. Tilson was a member of the Hurricane Baptist church, and was most highly respected by all who knew him. The funeral services occurred Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Hur­ricane M. E. church, Rev. E. S. Gar­diner conducting the services. Burial at Hurricane cemetery.

ROCKLANE.

Steve Tilson departed this life last Saturday night. While Mr. Tilson did not live in this immediate vicinity yet his face was very familiar here and we feel that a true friend has gone from among us.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Clark Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, page 248 records that Stephen [sic] W Tilson died at about 12 o’clock a. m. on 12 Aug 1900 in Clark Township from an abscessed lung of two weeks’ duration, caused by pneumonia, aged sixty-five years, nine months and twenty-two days, born in Indiana. He was male, white, and a farmer. His father’s name was Lemuel Tilson, and his mother’s maiden name Sidney Fitzpatrick, both born in Virginia. The informant was P. K. Lawrey. Stephan was buried in Hurricane Cemetery on 14 Aug 1900, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
