Joseph G. Throckmorton, 77, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at his residence in Seymour.
He was born May 10, 1925, in Johnson County. His parents were Joseph A. and Grace (Young) Throckmorton. He married Mildred Stogdill Throckmorton on June 21, 1949, in Brooklyn. She preceded him in death May 6, 1996. He then married Virginia Neil Brown Throckmorton on Aug. 21, 1997, in Tennessee. She preceded him in death March 10, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Grace Cox of Seymour and Teresa Luedeman of Hayden; two brothers, Maurice Allen Throckmorton of Florida and Richard Throckmorton of Veedersburg; four sisters, Dorothy Cummings of Trafalgar, Pearl Buckner and Elsie Richhart, both of Whiteland, and Marguerite Richhart of Morgantown; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Edward Throckmorton.
He was employed by Arvin Industries for more than 26 years and Cummins Engine Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Central Christian Church in Seymour. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 146, Order of Eastern Star and Smiling Seniors of North Vernon.
The Rev. Sam Davenport will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel in Seymour. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Voss and Sons Funeral Service in Seymour.
