Bill Alton Thompson

Bill Alton Thompson, 53, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at his residence in the Homecroft area of Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 11, 1950, in Fayettville, Tenn. His parents were Alton "Shorty" and Mary Thompson. He married Mary Ann (Royce) Thompson on Sept. 6, 1974. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Kelly Renee Thompson of Indianapolis; and three sisters, Barb and Patricia Thompson and Donna Clemons.

He was a 1968 graduate of Greenwood High School.

He was employed for 10 years by Ray Skillman and for 10 years by Bud Wolf Chevrolet as an alignment mechanic.

He attended Southport Presbyterian Church.

He was a distinguished Vietnam veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He received the following medals; National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter.

The Rev. Bob Amon will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Southport Presbyterian Church in Greenwood. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel.
