Vesta Mae Thomas, 251 N. Home Ave., Franklin, 73, died Saturday at 4:00 a.m. in
the Johnson County Hospital.

The funeral was held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gap-Creek Baptist church at
Arthur, Tenn. Burial was in River View Cemetery at Harrogate, Tenn. In charge of
the 
service were Rev. Claude Johnny Sanaford.

Mrs. Thomas was born Oct. 31, 1903 at Arthur Tenn. Her parents were Sterling and
Pheobie Linger Whitaker. On Dec. 2, 1927, she was married to Wm. Thomas at
Cumberland Gap, Tenn. The Thomases had lived in this area for the past 20 years.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the gap-Creek Baptist Church were she had served as
organist and treasurer.

Survivors are her husband; sons, Wm. Ray Thomas and Claude Roy Thomas, both of
Edinburg and Curtis Earl Meyers of Buckingham, Ky.; daughters, Norma Lee Jones
of Edinburg; Edith Jean Whitaker of Franklin and Ruby Irene DeBusk of
Middlesboro, Ky. Also surviving are a brothers, Frederick Whitaker of Arthur,
Tenn.; sisters, Mrs. Emma Earles of Middlesboro, Ky. and Mrs. Minnie Ely of
Knoxville, Tenn. One son preceded her in death.
