OBITUARY.

Caroline Vories [sic] was born in Hensley Township, Johnson County, Ind., Aug 30, 1844. She was the second of a family of eight children, whose parents were Harvey and Alazannah Voris. Her childhood and youth were spent in the immediate neighborhood of her birth, where she divided her time between her parents and grandparents, and embraced such limited educational advantages as the schools of the times afforded.

December 7, 1865, she was united in marriage with Thomas L. Terhune. The young couple lived in Hensley Township about two years and then moved to Chariton, Iowa, but in 1868 they returned to the old neighborhood, which has ever since been their home.

Mrs. Terhune departed this life after a short illness, July 29, 1896, leaving a husband and two children to mourn their loss.

She was a woman of strong mind and high and noble character. She was a loving wife and mother, a friend in need, a comforter in affliction and no worthy appeal to her sympathies was ever made in vain. She put forth all her strength in the performance of life’s duties grandly and conscientiously. She believed in the Christian religion, and adhered with sublime faith to its teachings. The deceased was a sister of ex-state sup’t Vories [sic] and mother of Dr. Terhune
