OBITUARY.

George Lewis Redman came to Johnson county, Ind., from Kentucky near 30 years ago and continuously resided in this county until the early morning of May 30th, 1894, when just as a night of peaceful rest had been finished the angel of death hovered around this home and laid his icy hand on the husband and father, and without perhaps a moment’s suffering he obeyed the call and stood in the presence of a just and holy God.

He had many virtues worthy of imitation; he was kind, industrious and upright, respected and loved most by those who knew him best. He made a public profession of his faith in Christ as a personal Savior and united with the 2nd Mt. Pleasant Baptist church, January 27th, 1871. At the time of his death he was in the 62d year of his life. A wife and children are thus suddenly bereft of one dear to them, but they have the assurance that all is well with him and on the resurrection morn the Lord will own and crown all those who have overcome by the blood of the lamb.

The funeral services were held at the 2d Mt. Pleasant church, conducted by Rev. Hawley, of the Presbyterian church, who spoke words of comfort from the text: “I know my Redeemer liveth,” after which his body was tenderly carried out by six of this sons and laid to rest in our silent home of the dead.
