The funeral sermon by Rev. Oviatt last Sabbath over the remains of Thomas Pettit was well attended. The deceased was 71 years old and was buried in the soldiers section in our cemetery. He was an honored pensioner.

Jack Pate, a former Greenwood boy now of Indianapolis, was present at the Pettit funeral.
Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 157, referencing Book H-24, page 10, records that Thomas Petitt [sic], a seventy-one-year-old white male, died 19 Aug 1893, no place of death recorded.
