OBITUARY.

Mary Ann McCready was born in Louden [sic] county, Virginia, Feb 6th, 1816, and died Feb. 10, 1900, aged 84 years and 10 days. She was married to Joseph Peggs June 9th, 1833. She leaves a husband (Uncle Joe) and four children—Wm. A. living near Greenwood, John H. near Columbus, Mrs. Margaret F. McGregor, a widow of Acton, Ind., and Mrs. Mary Ann Myers, wife of Peter Myers northeast of Greenwood, and 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Aunt Mary joined the Christian church with her baby boy, Charles E. Peggs, then a vigorous young man, in 1877 under the preaching of Rev. W. R. Couch, now in Illinois, and who by Aunt Mary’s dying request was called to preach her funeral. Aunt Mary died in the faith of a true believer, Charlie having preceded her some years ago.

In 1834 this couple in the bloom of youth moved to Missouri and four years later moved back to Kentucky and remained there until the year 1842 when they moved to Indiana and have lived here together 57 years, and together over 66 years had Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe lived together and next June 9th, 67 years of union would have been theirs, but God knows best and called our dear mother, neighbor and friend home, where she will know no sickness, sorrow or pain. The loss of Charlie a few years ago was a terrible blow and this is a terrible blow to Uncle Joe to lose his companion of 66 years. He has the sympathy of hundreds of friends. Aunt Mary was a good, kind mother, neighbor and friend. Peace to her ashes.
