Miss Alma Peek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Peek, died at the family residence in this city on last Sunday morning at 8:15 o’clock, of typhoid fever. She was a bright and promising young lady and her death is deeply mourned by a large circle of friends. Short services were held at the residence on Monday afternoon after which the remains were taken to Greenwood where the funeral took place on Tuesday morning from the Christian church and the remains were interred in the cemetery at that place.

==============================

For the Democrat.

In Memory of our Friend, Alma Peek.

Miss Alma Peek, a former resident of this place, died at her home in Franklin, Sunday, July 13th, 1890, after an illness of a few short weeks. Her funeral was held in the Christian church of this place, Tuesday, July 15th.

A large number of friends and relatives were present. The procession from the church to the cemetery was headed by the class of the Franklin High school with others of her friends. The number of flowers presented by her friends was an emblem of the respect they bore her. Alma was loved by all who knew her. in her home she was a bright, dutiful and loving member; in school, a gentle, obedient, and intelligent pupil; in church and Sabbath school, a faithful Christian worker while with her friends she was always ready to greet them with a kind word and pleasant smile.

In her death, although not a member of our community, we feel that our loss is heavy. Though Alma will not be with us any more, may her life so influence ours that our characters may become as pure, bright and lovely as hers. May God in His all-wise providence so watch over us that when our summons comes for us to come up higher, we will be ready to meet him and our friends.

Friends.

Greenwood, Ind.
