Russell Newton Parsley, 82, Shelbyville, died Oct. 23. Before retiring, he worked 42 years for Indiana Bell Telephone Co. He was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, both in Shelbyville.

Services: 11 a.m. Oct. 25 in Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, Shelbyville, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24. Burial: Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.

He was the widower of Mary Katherine Moore Parsley.

Survivors: son William Parsley sister Evelyn Hollis two grandchildren three great-grandchildren.

Russell Newton Parsley, 82, of Shelbyville died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Franklin.

Mr. Parsley worked for Indiana Bell for 42 years, was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, all in Shelbyville.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service in Shelbyville. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and a Masonic memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Mr. Parsley was born in Edinburgh May 19, 1918, the son of Newton and Mary Parsley. He married Mary Katherine Moore May 15, 1947. She died March 22, 1994.

He is survived by a son, William Parsley of Shelbyville; a sister, Evelyn Hollis of Columbus; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
