Robert S. Parr, 88 years of age, a Civil War Veteran, was found dead in bed at the home of his son, Ira Parr, a farmer living south of Franklin at 2 o’clock this morning. Although Mr. Parr had been feeble for some time, due to advanced years, he had been able to get about. For the past year he had been making his home with his son, Rev. Roscoe Parr, of Wabash, Ind. He came here Aug. 15th to attend the Shiloh church home-coming and the Alexander family reunion, and remained for a visit with his son. He was up and about the house yesterday and when he retired, he did not complain of feeling worse than usual. At 2 o’clock this morning, when the son arose to investigate the barking of a watch dog, he stepped into his father’s room, and found him dead. It is believed that he was the victim of a heart attack.

Mr. Parr was a life-long member and four years an elder of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian church. He always took an active interest in church affairs, and was especially devoted to the interest of the Shiloh church. He was a member of the local G. A. R. Although he was never a candidate for office, Mr. Parr took a keen interest in politics. He was a staunch republican, and in his later years found great pleasure in friendly arguments with his democrat friends.

Besides Ira Parr, of Franklin, at whose home he died, and the Rev. Roscoe Parr, of Wabash, he is survived by two other sons, Harry Parr, of Iowa and Riley Parr, of Spencer, Ind. His wife died many years ago.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed pending word from the son living in Iowa, but it has been announced that the funeral will be held at Shiloh church, and burial will be made in Greenlawn cemetery, here.
