Harold W. “Doc” Parr

Harold W. “Doc” Parr, 79, died Sunday at Henderson Nursing Home in Morgantown. He had been a resident of Morgantown and Trafalgar most of his life.

He was born July 23, 1914, in Jack- son County. His father was Jake Dar- kies, who preceded him in death. He was later adopted by Ira and Flora Parr. They also preceded him in death. He first married Stella Pearl Crouch Oct. 31, 1936. She preceded him in death March 24, 1971. He then married Clarissa M Lewis Dec 30, 1971, in Nashville. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Donald L. Parr Sr. of Morgantown; two daughters, Dorothy E. Meador of Franklin and Marilyn L. Kean of Trafalgar; two brothers, Andy Darkies and Floyd Darkies, both of Seymour; a sister, Louise Edwards of Seymour; stepmother, Sarah Marling of Seymour; two stepdaughters, Wanda Lebo of Morgantown and Betty Farran of Martinsville; four stepsons, Larry Joe Lewis and Gene Raymond Lewis, both of Indianapolis; Timothy Allen Lewis of Morgantown, and Randy Hugh Lewis of Martinsville; seven grand­children; and 11 stepgrand-children. He also was preceded in death by a sister.

He was a 1932 graduate of Morgan- town High School.

He was employed by Chevrolet Truck and Bus in Indianapolis as a welder for 33 years, retiring in 1980. He also was owner of Parr's Used Furniture in Morgantown and Trafalgar from the late 1950s to the early 1980s.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 23.

Pastor Kenneth LaFary will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Mor­gantown. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Indiana State Department of Health, Certificate of Death, State No. 94-020701, Local No. 94-145 records that seventy-nine-year-old Harold W. Parr died at Henderson Nursing Home, Morgantown, Indiana at 11:00 p.m. on 8 May 1994 of a stroke as a consequence of hypertension. He was male, white, married, and a retired welder at Chevrolet Division of General Motors. His father’s name was Jake Darkies and his mother’s name was unknown. The informant was Harold's wife, Clarissa Parr of P.O. Box 105 Morgantown, IN 46160. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Greenwood, Indiana on 11 May 1994, Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Funeral Director.
