OBITUARY.

John Owens, the eldest son of Samuel and Milly Fisher Owens, was born Oct 5, 1831, and died Jan 3, 1898, after a brief illness on the farm where his entire life had been spent. He married Carolina A. Hutchings, Feb. 8, 1855. She died April 11, 1888. Six children were born to them. Two daughters filled their mission on earth and obeyed the Master’s call years ago. Three sons and one daughter remain to mourn the loss of a loving father. Feb. 1850, he was baptized into the fellowship of the Second Mt. Pleasant church. The reverses of life came to him and were met with much grace and Christian character. “He hath done what he could,” and today he is with the loved ones gone before, and a just and loving God. Although he is gone from us, and we will miss his voice and form, his words of warning and council, yet we mourn not as those who has no hope, for we trust he is with the Lord.

Funeral services were held at Second Mt. Pleasant Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock, conducted by Rev. P. O. Duncan, and attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
