DEATH AT SMITHS VALLEY.

Jacob F. Nieman died Sunday evening, Nov. 3, at 9:45 o’clock at the home of his niece, Mary A. Smith, at Smiths Valley. Mr. Neiman was formerly a well known resident of Greenwood, but for the last few years had made his home with his niece in Smiths Valley.

Deceased was seventy-eight years, ten months and fifteen days of age and was born in Bauflin[sic] county, Penn­sylvania. He was a Civil War veteran, serving four years in the army and was a member of Co. H., 11th Ind. Inf. He was a member of the Greenwood Pres­byterian church and of the I. O. O. F. and Masonic lodges. His niece, Mary A. Smith, and another niece and nephew are the nearest relatives that survive.

Funeral services were held at the Greenwood cemetery Tuesday, con­ducted by Rev. McEwen, pastor of the Greenwood Presbyterian church. The services were in charge of the I. O. O. F. and Masonic lodges.
