==============================

OBITUARY.

Mrs. Nancy Jane Nation died at her home in Samaria after a lingering illness. Mrs. Nation was born April 26, 1829, and died in May 1897.

She was married to Sylvester Nation Dec. 24, 1854. She has lived in Hensley township over fifty years. To this union was born nine children, three of whom are living, viz: Mrs. Margaret Ann Eaton, of Tipton; William, who lives in Belleville, Brown County, and Allen, who lives in Indianapolis. Mrs. Nation was a sister of the old pioneer, Sam Tharp, and a sister of Aunt Tilda Hensley.

She has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for many years. Her father and mother moved to Hensley township about sixty years ago and settled on the farm of Uncle G. W. Musselman. On that farm they died, and are resting in Friendship cemetery on Indiana Creek.

Mrs. Nation was a true and helping companion, a dear mother and a good citizen. During her long and active life she has watched anxiously and lovingly over the dear little ones in her care. She has experienced trouble and sorrow, having lived long enough to follow six dear children to the grave. All who knew her respected her for kindness and sympathy with those in distress. She had lived her three score and ten years nearly, and all that long life she never was known to be idle or indifferent to home and children. Mr. Nation’s loss is one that cannot be replaced. Those three surviving children have lost their best friend; their neighbors a true and good friend. She was followed to her last resting place by her many relatives and friends.
