OBITUARY

George Washington Nipper [sic] was born in Louisville, Blunt [sic] county Tennessee, May 8, 1838. Died in Greenwood, Sunday, June 5, 1892, at 1:20 noon, aged 54 years and 28 days. Was united in marriage to Miss Emma J. Drake, Sept. 22, 1861, in Bedford, Ky. He moved to Indiana in 1873. He leaves a widow, no children and two brothers in Tennessee, out of a family of nine children. With the beginning of the new year 1892 he commenced a new life by becoming a Christian, joining the Christian church Jan. 18, 1892, and he lived a consistent life in Christ until death claimed him, expressing a willingness to depart if the Lord so willed.

Brother Nipper [sic] was liked and respected by all. He was of a pleasant temperament, having a true sense of kindness, and neighborly and every willing to do a kind act. He was very fond of children, and there is not a boy or girl in our town but what liked Mr. Nipper [sic], and many a little boy has spent happy moments with him in riding on his dray. Thus another life has gone out. His funeral was preached in the Christian church by Rev. Oviatt, Tuesday at 10 a.m. and his body laid to rest in our cemetery. The cause of his death was flux. In politics Bro. George was a true Democrat, and doubtless is in glory land.

NOTE – His name was misspelled throughout both death notices. It is Napier according to his tombstone.
