Mrs. Sarah Myers, age eighty-seven years, died Monday morning at the home of her son, Thomas J. Turpin, on east Madison street. She had been in poor health for some time due to ex­treme old age. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the re­sidence conducted by Rev. C. R. Hud­son of the Christian church, where the deceased had long held a membership. Burial at Greenlawn.

Notes: The 1850 US Federal Census for Jessamine, Jessamine County, Kentucky records fifty-two-year-old, Kentucky-born post and bailer laborer [sic] Dan’l Turpin, his thirty-seven-year-old, Kentucky-born wife Sarah Turpin, and their Kentucky-born children, fifteen-year-old Mary J. Turpin, fourteen-year-old Matilda Turpin, twelve-year-old Wm. Turpin, ten-year-old Ira Turpin and nine-year-old Thomas J. Turpin.

The 1860 US Federal Census for Washington, Morgan County, Indiana records fifty-year-old, Maryland-born butcher Albert H. Myers, his forty-six year-old Kentucky-born wife, Sarah Myers, his twenty-two-year-old, Kentucky-born daughter, Margaret Meyers, and her Kentucky-born children, eighteen-year-old Thomas Turpin, fifteen-year-old Alexander Turpin, twelve-year-old Ann E. Turpin, and ten-year-old Elizabeth Turpin.

Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Franklin, Franklin Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, Health Officer’s Record Number 20, page 165 records that Sarah Myers died at about 7 o’clock p. m. on 28 May 1900 at her residence, on Madison Street, Franklin from consumption of two years’ duration, aged eighty-seven years. She was female, white, widowed with no occupation, birthplace Jesamine [sic] County, Kentucky. Her father’s name was Wm. Corby and her mother’s maiden name unknown, birthplaces of both unknown. The informant was Thomas J. Turpin. Sarah was buried in Franklin, Indiana on 30 May 1900, Dudley Peek, undertaker.
