Death of Lewis Mullendore.

Lewis Mullendore, one of the best known and most successful farmers of Johnson county, died suddenly Tuesday night at his home south of town. He retired in his usual health but soon after lying down his wife heard a peculiar sound as if he was breathing with difficulty and inquired what was the matter. Receiving no response she went to his side and discovered that he had expired.

Deceased was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, July 30, 1823. In early life he followed tanning with his father, who had become a resident of Shelby county. He afterwards moved to Johnson county where he purchased land and continued to reside until his death.

Funeral services will take place this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence, conducted by Rev. John C. Miller. Burial at Greenlawn.

Perhaps the last business transaction of the late Lewis Mullendore occurred in Edinburg. Mr. Mullendore with his wife and son, Wm., and family spent the day with Dave Webb, and while there purchased a fine driving horse for which he gave a check on the bank here. Mr. Mullendore drove the newly purchased animal home and died about nine o’clock that evening.
