Rites Announced
For Mattie Mills

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Mills, wife of Thomas Mills of the Union community, have been set for Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock and will be in the Vandivier-Pars­ley Funeral Home.

The services will be in charge of the Rev. Earl Davis, pastor of the Union Christian church, and burial will be made in the Nineveh cem­etery.

Friends may call at the funeral home any time and are invited to attend the rites.

Mrs. Mills had suffered a heart attack in May of 1956, and had been ill since that time. She died at approximately 1 o’clock Tuesday af­ternoon in the house where she had lived for 47 years.

Anniversary Near

The daughter of the late Young and Elizabeth Goetz Coffman, Mrs. Mills was born in Bartholomew coun­ty on Sept. 7, 1877, and would have observed her 80th birthday on Saturday. She had received her edu- cation in the Nineveh schools.

On Feb. 6, 1897 she became the bride of Mr. Mills and spent the remainder of her life in the Union community. Mrs. Mills was a mem­ber of the Union Christian church.

The survivors with the husband are two sons, James Mills, of Franklin; Homer Mills, of Shelby­ville; and a daughter Mrs. Virgil Coy, of Whiteland.

Also remaining are eight grand­children, six great-grand­children, three brothers[sic], Jacob Coffman, William Coffman, of Franklin; and three sisters, Mrs. Oscar Hants of Nineveh; Mrs. Josie Waltz, of Trafalgar; and Mrs. Eva Dunham, of Indianapolis.

Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth and a son, Ottis G. Mills.
