An inquest was held today by Coroner Arthur W. Records in the death of 82-year-old Mrs. Martha J. Miller, who was found dead about 7 o’clock Thursday morning in rooms above the LaGrange & Son Grocery on West Monroe Street.

Mrs. Miller had been caring for Mrs. A. B. LaGrange for the past three years. Dr. Records said death was due to coronary occlusion and said Mrs. Miller succumbed at approximately 5 a.m.

Guy LaGrange, son of Mrs. A. B. LaGrange, told the coroner that during the three years Mrs. Miller had been caring for his mother she had been complaining of pains in the chest and shortness of breath.

She seemed in good health Wednesday, Mr. LaGrange said. Mrs. Miller was found dead in bed by his mother.

Body to Edinburg

After the inquest was conducted at the Flinn mortuary here, the body was removed to the Farr & Gosney parlors in Edinburg, where funeral arrangements were to be completed.

Mrs. Miller was born in Brown county and moved to Johnson county about 38 years ago. Practically her entire life had been spent near Edinburg.

She was the widow of the late Benjamin R. Miller, who died five years ago. The couple had farmed all their life until Mr. Miller’s death. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson, she was a member of the Mt. Olive church. A brother, Washington Anderson resides in Brown county.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters. They are Mrs. Anna Shrier, of Bridgeport; Mrs. Isaac Hasch, Jesse Miller, Joseph Miller and Roscoe Miller, all of Edinburg; Mrs. Clarence Warder, of near Franklin; and Everett Miller, of Indianapolis. A number of grandchildren also remain.
