Word has been received of the death and funeral of Donald McCas­lin, of San Jose, Calif., a former res­ident of the Hopewell community and Franklin. Interment was in Oak Wood cemetery at Santa Cruz.

Mr. McCaslin, a veteran of World War I, died in a veterans hospital in Oakland, Calif., Friday, July 9, after a long illness.

He was born in the Hopewell community and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Harvey McCaslin. He received his education in the Hope­well and Franklin schools and for a number of years lived on West King street. When a boy he had been a carrier for The Star.

For 15 years, Mr. McCaslin had been a member of the sales depart­ment of the California Prune & Apricot Growers Association. He was a member of the Westminster Pres­byterian church, Memory Post No. 339, American Legion, and the Masonic lodge of Creston, Wash.

The survivors are the widow, Mrs. Lula McCaslin, a son, Donald Mc­Caslin, his mother Mrs. Anna Mc­Caslin, of Santa Cruz, and one bro­ther, Woodford W. McCaslin, of Panama.

He was a nephew of the late Ev­erett McCaslin.
