Mrs. Legan [sic], a well-known lady residing north of Whiteland, died on Wednesday of last week. The funeral took place from the Tennessee church on Thursday and was largely attended.

DIED —At her home near Whiteland last Thursday morning at eight o’clock, Melissa, wife of Peter Legan [sic], after an illness of seven weeks with that dreadful disease, consumption. The deceased was formerly a resident of this place and was highly respected by all who knew her. She leaves an affec­tionate husband, a daughter and two sons besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her remains were interred in the cemetery at the Tennessee church, the funeral obsequies being conducted by Rev. F. S. Kirtley.
