Eugene Lawrence, son of Wilson Lawrence (colored), died Sunday morning of pneumonia, age 18. Short services were held at the house Tuesday morning, after which the remains were taken to Franklin for interment. Few indeed will be missed here more than Eugene. It seemed that everyone liked him, not without reason either, for he possessed many admirable traits of character. He was a member of the High School graduating class and was looking forward hopefully to the time when his course of study would be completed. Last fall he purchased a suit to be used for the Commencement, little thinking that it would be used for his burial garment. His classmates contributed a beautiful floral offering. The entire High School accompanied the remains to the train. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their great affliction.
