Clarence E. LaFollette

Clarence E. LaFollette, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Regency Place of Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood.

He was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Sullivan County. His parents were William and Lula (Russell) LaFollette. He married Mary R. Vandergriff on April 17, 1931. She survives. Other survivors include five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene LaFollette, in 1934; a daughter, Patricia Lukenbill, in May 2001; and three brothers, Chauncey, Alfred and Jimmy LaFollette.

He was employed for 12 years by Bryant/Carrier Corp. of Indianapolis as a security guard, retiring in 1974. He had also worked for Tasty Bakery and E. Rauh & Sons Fertilizer Co.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood, Greenwood Masonic Lodge 514 F&AM, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and Order of the Eastern Star 390.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

The Rev. Tom Vandergriff will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, State Road 135 Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.
