Evelyn M. Jordan

Evelyn M. Jordan, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a resident of Columbus.

She was born May 30, 1920, in Edinburgh. Her parents were Floyd and Elva (Breeding) Long. She married Charles E. Henry. He preceded her in death in 1979. She then married Harold Jordan. He preceded her in death in 1984. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn J. West and Nancy K. Day, both of Columbus; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was employed by Arvin Industries and CP Electronics.

She was a member of First Christian Church. She was also a member of Victory Workers Sunday school class, Order of the Eastern Star and Phi Sigma Alpha sorority.

The Rev. Matt Malott will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Evelyn M. Jordan, 81, of 31st Street died at 10:47 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Jordan was a former employee of Arvin Industries and CP Electronics. She was a member of First Christian Church, Victory Workers Sunday school class, Order of the Eastern Star and Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street, with the Rev. Matt Malott officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Born in Edinburgh May 30, 1920, Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of Floyd and Elva Breeding Long. Her first husband, Charles E. Henry, died in 1979. Her second husband, Harold Jordan, died in 1984.

Surviving are daughters, Carolyn J. West and Nancy K. Day, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Kim West of Indianapolis, David West of Jamestown and Shari West and Jeff Day, both of Columbus; and five great-grandchildren.
