HAZEL C. JOHNSON

Hazel C. Johnson, 91, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at Homeview Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.

She was born Sept. 9, 1912, in St. Louis. Her parents were James and Minnie (Graybeal) Wells. She married William A. Johnson on Dec. 31, 1938. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, James N. Johnson of Avon Park, Fla., and Paul R. Johnson of Brazoria, Texas; a daughter, Mary E. Scott of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was first employed by Standard Knitting Co. in Knoxville, Tenn. She later worked for L.S. Ayres, where she taught sewing and worked as a saleswoman. She was a homemaker for most of her life.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilt making.

The Rev. James "Butch" Tanner will conduct a graveside service at noon Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St.
