Doyle R. Johnson
Doyle Johnson, 75, died Wednesday, 
Sept. 19, 2001, in Franklin. He 
was a resident of New Whiteland 
and a former resident of Tell 
City.

He was born Dec. 19, 1925, in 
Irvington, Ky. His parents were 
Boney and Leona Ruth (Ramsey) 
Johnson. He married Beatrice 
(Northerner) Johnson on Nov. 
23, 1946, in Tell City. She 
preceded him in death Feb. 13, 
1995. Survivors include two 
daughters, Bernita Ryle of 
Whiteland and Starr Snyder of 
New Whiteland; five grand-
children; and six great-grand-
children. He was preceded in 
death by two brothers.

He graduated from high school 
in Cannelton.

He was employed for 23 years by 
Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, 
retiring in 1987. Prior to Cummins, 
he was employed by Thompson Con-
struction in Indianapolis.

He was a member of New Whiteland 
Christian Church, Whiteland VFW 
Post 6978, Diesel Workers Union 
and the Gaslighters, a barbershop 
quartet.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World 
War II.

Virgil Haugh will conduct a service 
at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flinn and 
Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin. 
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. 
Friday at the funeral home. A 
military graveside service will 
be conducted at Greenlawn Cemetery 
in Franklin.
