JAMES E. JARBOE

James E. Jarboe, 82, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at his residence in Columbus.

He was born May 22, 1921, in Whitesville, Ky. His parents were Hilary L. and Mary Manie (Bartley) Jarboe. He married Barbara L. (Legan) Jarboe on Aug. 24, 1951. She preceded him in death Sept. 22, 1992. Survivors include two sons, John Dale Jarboe of New Albany and Jack Allen Jarboe of Louisville; two daughters, Judith Anne Wilson and Jill Denise Czereszko, both of Columbus; three brothers, Hilary L. Jarboe Jr. of Florence, Ky., Paul Jarboe of Crocker, Mo., and Thomas Jarboe of Dayville, Conn.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Jarboe; and a sister, Lillian Barnett.

He worked for United Technologies of Edinburgh, retiring in 1986 after 36 years of employment.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Edinburgh and Edinburgh American Legion Post 233.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

The Rev. Paul Shikany will conduct a Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 100 Keely St. in Edinburgh. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St. in Edinburgh, where a prayer service will be conducted at 8 tonight. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, with military graveside rites provided by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
