Jarrold Wayne ’Jerry’ Holeman

Jarrold Wayne "Jerry" Holeman, 75, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at his residence in Franklin. He was a former longtime resident of Clark Township.

He was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Winamac. His parents were Addison Wayne and Eva Lenore (Banta) Holeman. He married Mary M. Quinnell on Feb. 2, 1952, in Fredonia, N.Y. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Karla M. Nyhuise of Indianapolis; four sons, Aaron W. and Dana M. Holeman, both of Greenwood, Paul N. Holeman of Yorktown and Brian K. Holeman of Indianapolis; a brother, Edgar N. "Ed" Holeman of Greenwood; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was a 1944 graduate of Clark Township High School, a 1952 graduate of Jordan School of Music at Butler University and a 1960 graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, where he earned a master’s in education.

He was employed by Indiana School for the Deaf in Indianapolis as an industrial arts teacher for 14 years, retiring in 1984. He was previously employed by Decatur Central High School for 10 years, where he taught instrumental music, and by Greenwood Community High School, where he taught instrumental and vocal music.

He was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, Experimental Aircraft Association and Radio Controlled Model Aircraft South. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a former co-leader of the Rocklane Boy Scout Troop 210.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golf and gun collecting.

Jon Goodman will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home on East Jefferson Street in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
