William Hill died at the poor house Wednesday morning at 10:00 o’clock. He was better known as “Whistling Bill” and was quite a character in the county. He was at one time well to do and owned eighty acres of good farm­ing land near Greenwood. Drink and kindred causes caused his ruin.

Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 95, referencing Book H-17, page 4, records that Wm. Hill, a fifty-three-year-old white male, died 18 Oct 1893 in Johnson County.
