Wife of Old Pioneer.

Mrs. Jane (Allison) High, wife of John High, died at her home in this city Saturday night at 9:15 o’clock, at the advanced age of 88 years.

She was born in Mercer County, Ky., Oct 9, 1808, and came with her parents to this county in 1830. On Dec 15 of the following year she was married to John High. This union extends over a period of 64 years, 4 months and 10 days. Deceased in 1844 became a member of the Presbyterian church and continued in this faith until her death.

She was the mother of six children all of whom are dead. The husband, eleven grand-children and eight great grand-children survive.

Funeral services were held at the house Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. Burial at Greenlawn.

The surviving husband is one of the old land marks of Franklin. He has seen it grow from the cross roads village, consisting of a blacksmith shop, a store or two with half a dozen houses, to the present beautiful city of over 5000 population. In early life he was a prominent business man and held large property interests, but through misfortunes lost nearly all his property. He goes to Indianapolis next week to reside with his grandchildren.
