Death of Mrs. G. F. Herriet. [sic]

Mrs. Sarah Herriott, wife of Major G. F. Herriott, died at her home in East St. Louis, Illinois, on last Sunday. The remains reached here Tuesday morning, and, after short services at the residence of Mrs. Elizabeth Herriott, on North Main street, were interred in Green Lawn cemetery. Mrs. Herriott was formerly a resident of this city where she had many friends who held her in high esteem. She was an excellent Christian lady of many noble attributes. Her maiden name was Brewer, and her childhood home was near Whiteland. Since their removal from this city, Mr. and Mrs. Herriott resided in Indianapolis, until about two years ago when they went to Oklahoma. About a year ago they removed to East St. Louis. Mrs. Herriott’s disease was typhoid fever.

The announcement on Monday of the death of Mrs. George Herriott, formerly an esteemed resident of this city, caused a pang of sorrow in the hearts of her many acquaintances, warm personal friends and relatives here. She had been sick for upwards of four weeks of typhoid fever, at her home in east St. Louis, Ill., which resulted in death on Sunday. Her remains were brought here for burial Tuesday morning, services being held at the residence of Mrs. Elizabeth Harriott. Mrs. Herriott was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church, an earnest worker in the cause of her master. She was a loving wife, a kind and generous friend. Major Herriot has the deep sympathy of numerous friends in his irreparable loss.
