The sudden death of Mrs. James Henderson, of Hopewell, from peritonis [sic], Monday evening, was a severe blow to her many friends. She attended church in Franklin, Sunday, and on leaving for her home about six o’clock seemed to be in her usual health. She was taken ill about 9 o’clock that evening and her suffering from the outset was most intense. Pus from a small abscess, it is said, had punctured the case inclosing it and then entered the abdominal cavity, which at once produced one of the worst possible cases of peritonitis. The funeral was held at Hopewell, Wednesday, attended by the largest assemblage of friends ever gathered at that place. The services were conducted by Rev. Davies–assisted by Rev. L. P. Marshall.
