PROVIDENCE.

Lucy, wife of Jessie [sic] Harris, de­parted this life last Sunday morning at 4 o’clock. She was buried on Monday at 11 o’clock, in the Harris cemetery. She leaves a husband and two children—Mrs. P. C. Utterback [Anna Brown] and Mrs. Albert Hollenback [Elizabeth Harris]—to mourn their loss.

The will of Mrs. Lucretia Harris, whose death occurred recently in Union township, was probated Monday. The estate is given in trust to Samuel Harris, the proceeds to go to the sup­port of her husband, Jesse Harris, during life time. At his death the pro­perty is to be equally divided among the children.

Notes: The 1860 US Federal Census for Union, Johnson County, Indiana records thirty-year-old, Kentucky-born Lucretia Brown and her one-year-old, Indiana-born daughter Anna B. Brown who are living in the Harris household which contains sixty-six-year-old, Virginia-born farmer Jesse Harris, his sixty-six-year-old, Kentucky-born wife Hannah Harris and their twenty-three-year-old, Indiana-born son Jesse Harris.

Johnson County, Indiana.; Marriage Records 1851–1875 Valume 2, D. A. R., transcribed by Edna Thompson Bice, records on page 34 that Jesse Harris married Lucretia Brown 4 May 1865. This is her second marriage per the information in the 1860 US Census.

The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 87, referencing Book H-18, page 18, records that Lucretia Harris, a seventy-four-year-old white female, died 27 Aug 1899 in Franklin.
