Ray D. ’Short’ Harmon

Ray D. “Short” Harmon, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood.

He was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Johnson County. His parents were Dudley and Julia (Davis) Harmon. He married Norma (Cunningham) Harmon on Nov. 3, 1950, in Indianapolis. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Richard Harmon of Philadelphia, Pa., Thomas Harmon of Greenwood and Steven Harmon of Franklin; four daughters, Donna Stillabower of Nineveh, Nancy Bunch of Bargersville, Julie Zanker of Lafayette and Susan Johnson of Greenwood; a brother, Dudley Harmon Jr. of Franklin; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert, James “Bus” and Dale Harmon; and a sister, Martha Lee Bright.

He was self-employed for 30 years as a milk hauler.

He was a member of Honey Creek United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 252 for 46 years.

He loved to garden.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

The Rev. Elizabeth Gordon Smith will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in White River Township.

Ray D. "Short" Harmon, 88, Greenwood, died Oct. 24. He had been a self-employed milk hauler for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Greenwood post.
