Funeral of Abner Hardin.

Funeral services for the late Abner Hardin were held from the Nineveh Christian church at 2 o’clock this afternoon and were attended by an outpouring of friends that taxed the capacity of the church. The services were in charge of Dr. W. J. Wright, pastor of the church, who was assisted by Rev. Lee Tinsley of North Salem, an old friend of Mr. Hardin. The pall bearers were eight grandsons, Frank Cobb, Mark Walden, Raymond Hardin, John Gant, Roscoe Hardin, Walter Cobb, Arthur Cobb and William Hardin. Six grand-daughters were flower bearers, Miss Elizabeth Cobb, Miss Ruby Hardin, Mrs. Glenn McMurray, Mrs. Virgil Stainbrook, Mrs. Denzil Clack, and Miss Dorothy Hughes. Members of the local G. A. R. post were honorary pall bearers.

Music was furnished by a male quartet consisting of Clancy Vandivier, Oral Barnell, Charles Goldsmith and Isaac Bice. Burial was in the church cemetery at Nineveh.

Those from a distance who came to attend the funeral were Mrs. Kate Gibson and James Gibson of Crestwood, Ky.; Mrs. Carrie Gant, Mrs. Andrew Forsythe, Mrs. L. D. Carter, Indianapolis’ Mrs. G. W. Treon of Knightstown and Mr. and Mrs. V. O. Stainbrook of Shelbyville.

Mr. Hardin was one of the largest land owners in Nineveh township and about three years ago had given each of his six children a sixty-acre farm. He still retained the old home place just north of the Nineveh high school for Mrs. Hardin and this had for many years been one of the county’s most hospitable homes.
