Oscar Hants, Nineveh, Dies Friday Night

Funeral services for Oscar Hants, of Nineveh, will be conducted in the Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

The Rev. Edward Rudicel, of Shelbyville, and former pastor of the Nineveh Christian Church, will be in charge of the services and burial is to take place in the Nineveh Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home at any time after 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon and until time for the services, which they are invited to attend. Mr. Hants died on his and the late Mrs. Hants’ sixtieth wedding anniversary Friday night in the Johnson County Memorial Hospital at 11 o’clock. He had been in failing health for two years and critically ill for six weeks.

Born In 1880

The son of the late George and Catherine Koerner Hants, Mr. Hants was born at Marysville, Ind., on Oct. 2, 1880, and attended the schools in Scott County.

On Aug. 16, 1903, at Nineveh he and Minnie Coffman were married and five children were born to them. Mrs. Hants died on June 4, 1963.

When Mr. Hants was 17-years-old, the family came to Johnson County and he spent the remainder of his life here where he was a farmer.

Mr. Hants was a member of the Nineveh Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge, No. 317.

His survivors are a son, Robert Hants, of Nineveh; and four daughters, Mrs. Doris Jean Browning, of Nineveh; Mrs. Marie Ware, Mrs. Kathryn Maley and Mrs. Ethel Mohr, all of Indianapolis.

Others who remain are six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Ernest Hants, of Whiteland; and Fred Hants, of Scottsburg.
