78, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 
2002, at Johnson Memorial 
Hospital in Franklin. 
She was a resident of 
New Whiteland.

She was born March 8, 1924, 
in Indianapolis. Her parents 
were Winfield and Emma (Glove) 
Smith. She married John E. 
Hanshew Sr. He preceded her 
in death Dec. 25, 1984. Survi-
vors include a son, John E. 
Hanshew Jr. of Louisville; 
four daughters, Jacquelin M. 
Hargraves of Franklin, Janey 
A. De La Cruz of Indianapolis, 
Kelly J. Hogue of Trafalgar 
and Tina L. Hanshew of New 
Whiteland; a brother, Norman 
H. Smith of Indianapolis; 
15 grandchildren; and 12 
great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of 
Washington High School in 
Indianapolis.

She was a homemaker

She was a member of St. Mary’s 
Catholic Church.

Monsignor Harold Knueven will 
conduct a service at 10 a.m. 
Wednesday at Forest Lawn Wilson 
St. Pierre Funeral Home, State 
Road 135 Chapel. Friends may 
call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at 
the funeral home. Entombment will 
be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens 
in White River Township.
