Mrs. Elizabeth Halstead, living two miles north of Edinburg with her son, Albert Halstead, died Sunday evening, age 82 years.

The 1850 US Federal Census for Blue River, Johnson County, Indiana records sixty-year-old, New York born Alexander Halstead, his thirty-three-year-old, Kentucky-born second wife Elizabeth Halstead, his Indiana-born children by his first wife, eighteen-year-old Marion and twelve-year-old David Halstead, and Elizabeth’s two Indiana-born children by John Swinney, nine-year-old John W. and five-year-old Mary E. Swinney.

The 1860 US Federal Census for Blue River, Johnson County, Indiana records seventy-year-old, New York born Alexander Holsted [sic], his forty-three-year-old, Kentucky-born wife Elizabeth Holsted [sic], and their two Indiana-born children, ten-year-old Albert and eight-year-old Josephine Holsted [sic].

The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 83, referencing Book H-19, page 1, records that Elizabeth Halstead, an eighty-two-year-old white female, died 8 Oct 1899 in Blue River Township.
