Death of Dr. W. C. Hall.

In the death of Dr. W. C. Hall, which occurred Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock, a familiar face passes from among the citizens of Franklin.

Dr. Hall had been in his usual health until three weeks ago. At times an old army complaint gave him trouble, but until two weeks prior to his death he was able to attend to his practice. Three weeks ago he was called to Indianapolis to attend Wm. Ramey and contracted a heavy cold which led to his fatal illness.

Dr. Hall was born September 11, 1830, at Castile, New York. He attended Alleghany college at Meadville, Pa, three years, completing a scientific course. He moved to Indiana, living at Madison, where in 1849 he entered the office of Dr. Rodgers. After taking a course of medicine at Louisville and at Columbus, Ohio, he began the practice of medicine in Jefferson county and continued there until 1862 when he enlisted as a private in the 82nd Ind. Vol. He was afterwards transferred to the 17th Ohio.

After returning from the war he located in Franklin. Here he built up a lucrative practice and prospered. He was a member of the G.A.R. post and always took an active interest in its affairs and was its commander in 1888.

For several years he served as secretary of the county board of health. For the past three years he had been president of the 82nd Indiana in its reunions.

He was twice married, the first wife dying early in life. To that union one son was born, Dr. H. J. Hall of this city. His second wife, who survives him, was Miss Malvina Tilford, of Jefferson county.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence, conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson. Burial at Greenlawn under the auspices of the local G.A.R.
