Bernice (Meadows) Hale, 61, 
died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, 
at St. Francis Hospital & 
Health Centers in Beech Grove. 
She was a resident of New 
Whiteland.

She was born June 10, 1940, 
in Russell Springs, Ky. Her 
parents were Bradley and Lelia 
(Foley) Meadows. She married 
Samuel Hale on May 6, 1964, 
in Tennessee. He survives. 
Other survivors include a 
daughter, Teresa Goss of 
Gutherie, Okla.; three sons, 
the Rev. Randy Maynard of 
New Whiteland, John Maynard Sr. 
of Sarasota, Fla., and Brad 
Hale of Greenwood; a stepson, 
Mark Hale of Greenwood; and 
six grandchildren. She was 
preceded in death by two 
brothers, Otis and Luther 
Meadows; and three sisters, 
Lola Grider, Lorene Skaggs 
and Anna Lois Buckner.

She attended Russell County 
schools in Kentucky.

She worked in food service 
most of her life and for the 
past 10 years at Jonathan 
Byrd’s Cafeteria in Greenwood.

She was a member of Friendship 
Baptist Church in Franklin. 
She enjoyed watching college 
basketball, auto racing, bowling 
and collecting Longaberger bas-
kets.

The Rev. Ray Deeter will conduct 
a service at 10 a.m. Friday at 
Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home 
in Franklin. Friends may call 
from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the 
funeral home. Burial will be 
at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Memorial contributions may be 
made to Friendship Baptist 
Church, 1600 Westview Drive, 
Franklin, IN 46131.
