OBITUARY.

With loving remembrance and great regret, still with a feeling of thankfulness toward God, we write this notice of the death of a dear and honored relative. James Green was born in Kentucky about the year 1828. He came from there to this state and has lived here ever since. He gained his maturity a strong and healthy man, took unto himself a wife and settled down to be a firm and noble citizen. He served in both the Mexican and the civil wars; this fact establishes his patriotism. After the civil strife had ceased he came to his home and settled down, living a life that is hard to describe. He was not a seeker after fame or fortune, but from choice traversed the humbler walks of life, administering to the weak and lowly. His wife, who like himself was a good Christian, died some years ago. Since that time he had made his home at various places, but at the time of his death he was living with his only sister, Martha Gillaspy, at Trafalgar. He was spared the trials and pains of a lingering illness. Last Sunday, the day of his death, his daily routine was completed. He attended church in the forenoon and did his ordinary duties in the afternoon, and there was no sign of illness till near the supper hour, when he came to Mrs. Gillaspy and told her not to prepare any supper for him, then sat down in a chair close by and was dead. While it was very sad it was also fitting that one of his disposition should have a death like this. He leaves no children and an only brother and sister. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. McNeely at Christian church, burial at Bethlehem.
