Note: The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index 1882-1920 page 78, referencing Book 17, page 26, records that Rebecca Graves, an eighty-year old white female, died on 24 Feb 1895 in Franklin.
Her age varies with the US Federal Census year, as she was 34 years old in 1860, but 54 years old in 1870. Also from the Census, her husband’s name was recorded as Lewis or Louis. The age of the children on the 1860 census shows an estimated date of about 1836 for Lewis and Rebecca’s marriage.
Lewis Graves married Rebecca Butler in New York in 1837 as recorded in John Graves 1635, Settler of Concord, MA. and His Descendants, by Kenneth Vance Graves, (publisher Kenneth Vance Graves, Wrentham, MA, 2002) page 292.
