For the Democrat.

OBITUARY.

John R. Garshwiler died at his farm residence near Bargersville, Indiana, October 10, 1890, of paralysis, aged 65 years, 10 months and 5 days. He was a good Bible student and well versed in the scriptures and presented them with much acceptance to his neighbors and friends. He never seemed happier than when discoursing of the law of life in the social circle. He was pre-eminently a friend of the children and the youth of his community universally loved him. Besides his heart-broken widow, four daughters, married, who with their husbands are exemplary and active members of the church of Christ, remain to cherish his memory and mourn his loss. His house was the preacher’s home. None rejoiced more than he at the success of the cause. To him death had no terror; he resigned himself to it as the sleep of the just. Farewell, brother; thou hast fought the fight and the victory won.
