DEATH OF JAMES GARSHWILER.

After a long illness, James W. Gar­shwiler, of this city, died Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at his home on east Madison street. For many years he lived in Union township, near Provi­dence, but several years ago he moved to Franklin. He was a well-known and successful farmer, and after coming to Franklin engaged extensively in stock buying. In every walk of life he was a good citizen and honorable in his dealings with men.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the resi­dence conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson, assisted by Rev. M. S. Heavenridge. Burial at Hopewell.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Franklin, Franklin Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, Health Officer’s Record Number 35, page 95 records that James Wesley Garshwiler died at about 3 o’clock p. m. on 4 Sep 1900 in Franklin, Indiana from melasma suprarenia [symptom of Addison’s disease] of twenty-four months' duration, aged sixty-five years, ten months and eight days. He was male, white, married and a farmer, born in Indiana to George Garshwiler and Nancy Luyster, both born in Kentucky. The informant was W. P. Garshwiler. James was buried in Hopewell, Johnson County on 6 Sep 1900, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
