SEVEN-YEAR-OLD BOY SHOT.

––––––––

By Companion Fourteen Years Old
and Killed.

––––––––

A distressing accident occurred at Greenwood last Friday morning about 10 o’clock, resulting in the death of Lowell, the little seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Funkhouser. The family lives in East Greenwood. Their son had gone to the home of George Wilson, a neighbor, and was playing with Mr. Wilson’s son Walter, age about fourteen years. The two lads had a rifle and shot gun, which as usual they thought were not loaded. The Wilson lad had the shot gun and, pointing it at his playmate pulled the trigger. The gun was discharged, the contents entering the abdomen of the Funkhouser boy and inflicting a wound, which a few hours later resulted in death.

For a number of years Mr. Funkhouser has had charge of J. T. Polk’s dairy cattle at Greenwood. Formerly he lived near Stone’s Crossing. The family have the sincere sympathy of all in the great bereavement that came so suddenly upon them.
